Issaquah (WA) Branch
The Issaquah Branch is open to anyone living in the general area surrounding Issaquah. We currently have members from Issaquah, Sammamish, Bellevue, Renton, Redmond and Kirkland. Come to our next branch meeting and check us out. The branch meeting schedule can be found here.
Our branch supports three types of membership: Branch members, Student members, and Friends of the Issaquah Branch.
Branch membership has one eligility requirement. As stated in the national bylaws: “An individual holding an associate (or equivalent, e.g., RN), bachelor‘s, or higher degree from a higher education institution accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (an “Accredited Higher Education Institution“) or other qualified educational institution located outside of the United States, as determined by the Board of Directors, shall be eligible to receive admission to AAUW membership; such membership shall be granted upon payment of AAUW dues.“
Branch membership includes membership in both the state and national organizations. Members have voting privileges at all three levels. Dues are $103 annually. $72 is for the national dues and $69 of that is tax deductible. The state dues are $10 and the remaining $21 are for the branch. State and branch dues are not tax deductible.
According to the AAUW bylaws: “The Board of Directors may permit undergraduate students enrolled in Accredited Higher Education Institutions or in other qualified educational institutions located outside of the United States, as determined by the Board of Directors, to associate with AAUW, with fees (if any) and benefits as determined by the Board of Directors.“
Student members are welcome to participate in all AAUW activities.
Dues for student members are reduced from the branch membership level. The actual amount varies.
The Issaquah branch recognizes that not everyone has the opportuinty to earn a college degree. To be more inclusive, we welcome any individual who supports our mission and goals. Friends of the Branch may participate in all branch actvities. They can participate at most state-level activites as a guest.
Friends of the Branch only pay branch dues, which are $21.
People wishing to become branch members or student members may apply on the national web site at www.aauw.org/membership/. Choose the type of membership and follow the links. New branch members will be give an option to select the branch by state and city.
Friends of the branch must join by contacting us. New branch members may also enroll through us, if they prefer. Please complete an application form for the Issaquah Branch of AAUW (see below) and mail it with a check for the dues to the branch treasurer or bring it to the next branch meeting. Mailing information is on the form.
We ask that all new members fill out the Issaquah branch application form, even if you pay on-line. We mainitain a directory of branch members. This form helps us add your information quickly, so that other members may contact you. The directory is only available to people in the Issaquah branch. If you have joined through the national web site, you may e-mail the completed form to treasurer@aauw-issaquah.org, mail it to the address on the form or bring it to the next branch meeting.
The form is available as a document (MS Word 2007 or later) or a PDF file. The MS Word Document should be downloaded and saved. Then you should be able to type in the information and print it or save it. That file is available here.

Persons wishing to transfer from another AAUW branch to the Issaquah branch should contact our treasurer at treasurer@aauw-issaquah.org.
